Cheerful Givers is a local charity that provides toy-filled birthday gift bags to food shelves and shelters so that parents living in poverty can give their child a birthday gift. I discovered Cheerful Givers last winter and instantly fell in love with them.
Now more than ever, many families are finding themselves needing the help of local food shelves that never needed it before. I’m sure it’s a humbling experience to seek out assistance in provided the basic essentials for your family. That is why Cheerful Givers is such a ray of sunshine on a typically cloudy time for these families. As a mother, my children’s birthdays are just as important to me as they are for them. I couldn’t imagine not being able to celebrate the wonderful day they came into my world. Every birth should be celebrated and Cheerful Givers is helping, one child at a time.
On March 27th Cheerful Givers celebrated The Great Minnesota Birthday Party at the Mall of America. Many local celebrities donated their time for this annual event is to raise awareness and funds for Cheerful Givers. This year, I was fortunate to be the photographer. Patrons could get their photo taken with a local celebrity and receive an on-site print, no purchase necessary. Some of the local celebrities you could meet were Matt Blair, MN Vikings Cheerleaders, Tim Mahoney, Jeff James, Miss Minnesota 2009 and MN Roller Girls. Not only was the event really fun, it also raised a lot of money and awareness for Cheerful Givers. I am so happy I was a part of this and I can’t wait until the next Cheerful Givers event.
